Hyperbaric
Oxygen
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a cutting-edge treatment that uses the natural power of oxygen to enhance the body’s ability to heal and regenerate. This involves inhaling 90-97% pure oxygen in a pressurized environment, allowing your body to absorb oxygen at levels up to 20 times greater than normal, saturating the blood plasma and delivering it deep into tissues—even areas with reduced or compromised blood flow. This elevated exposure triggers regenerative mechanisms essential for healing, immune support, and inflammation reduction.
How It Works:
Inside a hyperbaric chamber, the atmospheric pressure is increased to levels higher than sea level. In this controlled setting, the lungs can take in significantly more oxygen, which is then distributed throughout the body via the bloodstream. This super-oxygenation enhances white blood cell activity, stimulates the formation of new blood vessels, reduces swelling, and accelerates healing at a cellular level.
Benefits of HBOT:
- Accelerates Wound and Tissue Repair: By delivering high levels of oxygen deep into tissues, HBOT stimulates fibroblast activity, collagen synthesis, stem cell activity, and new blood vessel growth— ideal for recovering from surgeries, injuries, chronic wounds, or radiation damage.
- Reduces Inflammation and Speeds Recovery: Improves oxygen delivery and microvascular flow, mitigating oxidative stress and supporting tissue recovery. These benefits can help to decrease swelling and pain in conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and soft tissue injuries. Athletes also use it to recover faster after training or injury, naturally and without medication.
- Boosts immune function and brain health: HBOT enhances white blood cell activity to fight infections and supports brain oxygenation, beneficial for individuals recovering from concussions, strokes, or experiencing symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, or long COVID.
- Enhance Cellular Function: Elevated oxygen availability enhances mitochondrial performance by stimulating ATP production through oxidative phosphorylation, the process by which cells convert oxygen and nutrients into usable energy. This boost in cellular energy supports faster tissue repair, improves cognitive clarity, slows the aging process, and reduces the risk of chronic conditions by strengthening the body’s metabolic and regenerative systems.
- Stimulates Stem Cell Mobilization: Promotes endogenous regenerative processes by elevating circulating CD34+ progenitor cells and stem cell recruitment.
HBOT Treatment Sessions:
For optimal results, we recommend the following general session guidelines, however this depends on the individual, their goals and what other treatments are stacked in adjunct to HBOT.
- Intensive Phase: To experience significant changes, studies suggest at least 60 sessions.
- Moderate Phase: Depending on individual circumstances, some may require 20-50 sessions based on their conditions or goals.
- Maintenance Phase: Depending on the extent of patient’s procedure recovery and individual healing progress, typically it is suggested 10-20 sessions
HBOT Treatment Frequency & Session Length:
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions are typically scheduled for 60, 90, or 120 minutes, depending on individual needs and treatment goals. During each session, patients relax inside a transparent hyperbaric chamber while breathing high-dose oxygen, allowing for deep tissue saturation and enhanced healing.
The frequency of treatment varies based on the condition being addressed and the desired outcomes. Most patients receive HBOT 1 to 3 times per week, while others, especially those with more acute or chronic conditions—may benefit from 4 to 5 sessions per week for optimal results.
HBOT Technical Specifications:
- ATA (Atmospheres Absolute): HBOT operates at increased atmospheric pressure—typically between 1.5 ATA to 2.0 ATA, equating to 1.5 to 2.0 times the pressure at sea level. This allows significantly higher oxygen solubility in plasma.
- Oxygen Delivery System: A high-capacity 10-liter oxygen concentrator delivers 90–97% pure oxygen under controlled pressure, ensuring deep tissue saturation and optimal therapeutic impact.
This integrative approach enhances healing from the cellular level up, making HBOT a powerful adjunct to regenerative protocols used at REGEN.
